A day in Sant’Ambrogio transports you to the Sicilian Countryside. You will enjoy unique colourful rural landscapes immersed in Mediterranean vegetation with lovely views over both the mountains and the sea.
Meeting a local shepherd means being in touch with traditional life on a farm, surrounded by hundreds of goats. You will be able to take photos of the shepherd while milking his goats. He will explain and show you some of the essential steps involved in making cheese, such as getting the milk to curdle. All your senses will be awaken by this colourful and stimulating Sicilian country experience, from tasting the milk to hearing the sound of the goats’ bells.
In the village of Sant’Ambrogio itself, you will stop at a historic oil mill of the Garbo family, listening to the family’s story and, in the process, learning about the variety of Sicilian olive trees, the benefits of the extra virgin olive oil and its flavours.
Strolling around the village, meeting locals, you will be able to take in the strong sense of community that is present there, and to appreciate how people care for their village.
The tour ends with an aperitivo contadino made of local appetizers and Sicilian wine, enjoying the superb panorama from a lovely terrace over the sea.

Going with Giovanna to milk the goats & see how ricotta cheese was made was very special. Giovanna made it very pleasant. We also enjoyed the olive oil tasting with her as well, very enjoyable. Marie-Eve and Luciano I.
