Your guide and driver will pick you up at your accommodation at 9 am, and you will all drive towards the brooding, smoldering Mount Etna, which dominates the entire Eastern Sicily region.
Your tour will start at Piano Provenzana, a small resort on a northern slope of the Etna that was completely destroyed during the last significant eruption. You will take a magnificent walk on the edge of extinct craters in order to understand the structure of the volcano and the lifecycle of an eruption.
During our descent, we will pass an extremely colorful landscape which is riddled with volcanic ‘bombs’, and equipped with torches and helmets (which we will provide), you will walk in to a lava cave.
After lunch, our trekking adventure in the Etna Nature reserve will carry on to discover some unique volcanic phenomena like the Dagala (land are surrounded by solidified lava) and the 2002 volcanic fracture where one can witness the point where the lava flow started.

Ted & Beth C.– :
Matteo was an engaging and fun guide for Etna, but the hike itself was a little disappointing, due in no small part of course to Etna’s lack of cooperation. But the recent eruption did afford us an opportunity to see hot lava! That was thrilling for those who made it over the sharp lava ridges. Ted and Beth
