There is undoubtedly something magical about traveling through western Sicily, and Trapani certainly  figures into that landscape. Given the long history of the place, there is a wealth of things to see in terms of cultural heritage such as the beautiful Baroque buildings of Rua Grande, the old fish market at Piazza Mercato del Pesce (today an imposing structure) and the superb Pepoli Museum.
This museum, which is housed in a stunning former Carmelite convent, holds a superb collection of artefacts, as well as paintings and sculptures, (including works by Gagini). Accompanied by our cultural guide, we will take a walk through the history of the city and beyond, gaining a better understanding of the timeline of it all.
The walk will start from the fish market, a perfect starting point to understand the extent to which Trapani’s economy and culture is related to the sea.
Every morning, fishing boats arrive at the little port where locals await them. There, you will sample typical tonnara products, local tuna delicacies, accompanied with a glass of local wine.
Your will then go through the small alleys of the historical centre, where your guide will introduce you to Trapani’s long history, its culture and traditions, stopping at various food shops (bakeries, patisseries) to expose you to as many facets of the city’s gastronomy as possible.
During this pleasant and relaxing orientation tour you will see some of the city’s most elegant palazzi and uncover hidden and picturesque corners along the seaside, while indulging in tasting a wide variety of truly local specialties!
After this walk, we set out to explore the medieval town of Erice, which is perched at 750 meters above sea level. Strolling through the town’s medieval cobbled streets, we will make various stops to take in some of the town’s treasure troves, which include the Norman Castle and the Cathedral, elegant baroque palazzi, delightful Gothic and neo-Gothic churches, middle-age castles, and numerous Carthaginians vestiges.

Hi Marta.
Both Mirtilla and Gianluca were delightful guides. They were knowledgeable, personable, and open to all our questions or requests. We particularly appreciated that they both had a great sense of humor. They helped make our stay in Palermo even more fascinating.
Please let me know if you’d like more specific information about any aspect of our tours. I’ll post reviews as we near the end of our time in Italy.
Thanks for your kind wishes. We definitely hope to visit Sicily again!
Warmest regards,
Kent
